DOLL WIGS

Doll wigs offer thicker hair than clip-on or glued hair pieces and are much simpler to care for and style. We carry realistic human, synthetic, mohair and natural jute doll hair wigs in many colors and sizes for you to choose from.

MEASURING FOR A DOLL WIG

To measure for a doll wig, start measuring from behind your ears across your forehead using a soft tape measure.

HUMAN HAIR DOLL WIGS

Human hair doll wigs can be more easily styled than mohair ones, allowing for easier styling options such as curling or straightening – as well as dyeing them! However, these fragile doll wigs require special care.

CLEANING HUMAN hair DOLL WIGS

Before beginning, take steps to carefully detangle and clean a doll wig by first extracting it from their head, picking out any tangles using a rat-tail comb, hair pins, or an ice pick. When this step has been completed, soak your wig with Woolite mixed with cold water until fully saturated before drying on a towel.

MEASURING HEAD SIZE

Measure around the doll’s head from ear to ear and across her forehead with a soft measuring tape; this will be her head size (circumference).

PREPARING THE WIG FOR USE

Once your wig is ready to use, sew a line of running stitches around its back edge making sure that it follows its curves; if necessary, stitch in some additional tucks if its size changes; in either instance, tuck in additional stitches accordingly if required.

SYNTHETIC DOLL WIGS

Doll wigs made of synthetic hair are typically attached with glue. To clean it properly, soak the wig in Woolite and cool water overnight, before taking steps to untangle any tangles with a rat-tail comb or hair pin and rinse. If necessary, light conditioner or fabric softener may be added before another rinse cycle.

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR SYNTHETIC DOLL WIGS

Be careful when choosing a brush used on human hair as the oils from it may transfer onto synthetic strands and cause them to collect dirt more rapidly. Also, never place a doll directly under sunlight as this will fade the color and damage her wig permanently. For a more natural appearance, opt for yarn hair instead of plastic wig hair.

MOHAIR DOLL WIGS

Cassidy mohair doll wig is an adaptable wispy newborn-style wig with an oval partial cap and wisps of mohair that are styled into an oval. While shown here in brown hue, any yarn color suitable to your doll’s skin tone can be selected when creating this style of doll wig.

CREATING A MOHAIR DOLL WIG

To create this wig, begin by crocheting a size 6 wig cap using the double crochet, chain one pattern. When complete, create an internal nylon tricot lining to prevent glue seepage into supports beneath it. Next, shear off long ends of mohair for added volume. Draw lines that correspond to the stitched lines on a wig cap on paper. Spread mohair locks onto these lines using longer locks at the edges and shorter ones in the center for optimal results.

JUTE DOLL WIGS

These jute doll wigs feature curly strands that are easy to shape for an enhanced fuller look on your dolls. Unlike some other long jute wigs, which require doll owners to cut them back prior to use, these are ready-made right from the package and should fit securely immediately.

TIPS FOR CHOOSING A DOLL WIG

Before purchasing a wig for your doll, take measurements of her head with a cloth tape measure. If she falls between sizes, it is better to select a slightly larger than desired option rather than selecting something too small. Once selected, turn the wig inside out and glue its center directly onto her scalp, allowing time for drying before attaching her strands of hair.
