Hair types

Various hair types can be described and classified according to their shape, appearance, and response to styling products. These include straight, wavy, curly, and oily locks, and their porosity which measures how well it absorbs products and moisture.

Type 1 straight hair

Type 1 straight hair is often delicate and smooth, with barely detectable body waves for added volume. While it holds styles well when treated regularly, left unattended, it can quickly become oily and unruly.

hair color

When purchasing hair dye, it’s essential to understand how different shades are described. Most brands employ a numbering system whereby the first digit represents depth, the second digit tone, and the third digit secondary (which may be less noticeable). As each brand may use its numbering scheme differently, constantly referring to the color chart on the back of the tube is advised.

Depth numbers are separated from tone numbers with either a decimal point or slash and may include letters. For instance, the depth number “4.6” describes a medium brown base with red hues; zeroes may also be included if no reflections (natural or ash) exist within a shade – an important distinction when applied to lightened hair colors that have strong warm, undertones that require neutralizing with additional tones.
