Pinched Back Hairstyles For Every Occasion

The best pinned-back hairstyles keep your locks out of your face for an elegant and charming appearance. From face-framing tendrils and buns, to low romantic ponytails – these pulled-back looks are ideal for any special event!

Chignon

Chignons are an easy and sophisticated way to add volume and sophistication to any look. Worn around the back of the neck at the nape, this style is commonly associated with red-carpet events or galas; however, it works just as well for day-to-day wear.

To create this style, part your hair on either the left or right side and gather into a low ponytail at the base of your neck. Create a simple braid from its lower section before wrapping it around a chignon. If necessary, you can use headbands or bobby pins to hold any uncooperative pieces back. For a formal look, twist around one of your framing pieces at the front of your face, away from your forehead, before pinning it on top of the chignon. Finish it off with some hairspray for added hold and volume.

Hollywood Curls

Try Kasia’s beautiful Hollywood glam style this Valentine’s Day for long, medium, or short hair for a romantic date night out on the town. She shows us how to achieve it and provides helpful volume tips!

To achieve beautiful pin curls, start by sectioning and pinning back your hair in sections of equal size and direction, giving the style a uniform, Hollywood-esque appearance. Once your pin curls have fully set, carefully unwrap them from your hair and comb through them to soften their look. Use a detangling hair brush to help prevent breakage and maintain soft, healthy-looking strands. Smooth on some light cream anti-frizz products for an extra glint and shine boost.

Sweep-Back Ponytail

With this stylish hair idea, you can craft an exquisite ponytail and finish it with an attractive wrap of beautiful hair. Ensure that most of your locks have been pulled back into a ponytail before leaving some additional hair at the bottom for wrapping purposes.

Divide your hair into five small sections before braiding each section and wrapping all five around your hair tie until they cover it completely. Once your braiding session ends, gather your locks into a ponytail on the opposite side to conceal where you pinned the sections. Swirl your ponytail around to add volume, drama, and glamour to your look. Finish it off by spraying some hairspray over it for good measure to add extra volume and make it stand out against your other locks!

Side Sweep

This side-swept style is perfect for a night out with your girls and adds personality and dimension to any look. Women with texture may benefit from leaving out tendrils, like Elise Neal has done, for an unruly yet chic appearance. For an enhanced sophisticated look, use MoroccanOil Frizz Control to smooth flyaways before heading out into the nightlife.

This stunning look is perfect for formal events and brunch with the girls! To achieve it, apply thermal protectant spray or light hold mousse to damp hair before drying it and comb through and lightly brush strands into desired side parting. Secure remaining locks into a low ponytail using a coat elastic and mist with medium-hold hairspray before misting with medium-hold hairspray to finish! For added structure, add a Dutch braid overtop for additional installation!
