Ludwig is one of the Koopalings and claims to be their leader, designing an attack ship to fight Mario and his minions in Paper Mario: Color Splash.
Description
Ludwig boasts unruly hair and larger eyes, a deeper voice than his cartoon series counterpart Kooky von Koopa and an endearing laugh. He is the eldest of the Koopalings.
Appearance
Ludwig Koopaling is the eldest of his siblings and the smarter of them all. Like his siblings, he shares yellow and tan skin, green eyes, and four-ribbed, plated bellies, wearing spiked cuffs as an accessory. Ludwig is taller than Lemmy, Larry, and Wendy but shorter than Roy, Iggy, and Morton.
Family
Greta serves as his mother, however, she can often be cruel and devious like Ursula from Disney’s version of The Little Mermaid.
Abilities
Hotel Mario granted him special abilities that his fellow Koopalings did not possess: firing electricity from his hands and spinning his shell like a tornado are unique abilities of Hotel Mario Koopa’s that were never displayed anywhere else prior to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Additionally, in this game, his color scheme and spikes became slightly darker while his shell became more prominent than before.
Smartest Member
Ludwig is the leader and eldest Koopaling, and considered by Bowser to be their smartest member. Known for his fascination with invention, Bowser asked Ludwig to line up seven objects so as to determine where his reign would start in various worlds. Pipeland became under Ludwig’s control as a result.
Combat
Ludwig can utilize various attacks in battle, such as boxes, drills, wrecking balls, and his Junior Clown Car. His wand can even create fireballs!
Appearance Details
Ludwig features a single overbite on the upper center of his snout and small blue eyebrows, as well as wide, wild dark blue hairstyle. Mario and Luigi first face him when entering Bowser’s armada. During battle, he can launch three fireballs at them simultaneously from his shell.
Boss Battle Ring
Ludwig and Dry Bowser enter the Boss Battle Ring after Wendy and Roy have been defeated. Unlike other Koopalings, they do not gain Dark Star Points for defeating foes. Ludwig can transform into two variants when given enough Transformation Items, each with its own Awoken Skill.
Defeat
Ludwig does not speak with an American accent like Larry and Iggy do but uses his signature snicker and roaring noises. Additionally, Ludwig uses his shell as a weapon by spinning it around while firing fireballs towards Mario and Luigi from inside it. Once defeated by being stomped on three times, he is sent packing.
